It’s the season of turkey, togetherness, and way too many leftovers, but before your pet pulls up a seat at the table, let’s make sure the holiday stays pawsitively safe! Here’s how to help your furry family members enjoy Thanksgiving without any tummy troubles.
We get it—those puppy eyes are powerful. But before you sneak a bite under the table:
Once the plates are cleared, the real danger begins—the garbage can! Pets are pros at sniffing out scraps, so keep trash tightly sealed and out of reach. Turkey bones, strings, and food-soaked foil are all major “uh-oh” ingredients for tummy aches or blockages.
Candles, flowers, and potpourri make your home look festive, but they’re best admired from afar. Stick with flameless candles and double-check that holiday plants (like lilies and amaryllis) aren’t within paw’s reach.
With guests coming and going, it’s easy for a curious cat or social butterfly pup to slip out. Keep pets secure in another room during arrivals or use baby gates as a barrier. Double-check ID tags and microchips are up to date, just in case your pet tries to join the neighbors for dinner!
Big family gatherings can be a lot for even the most outgoing pets. Create a cozy, quiet space where they can chill out, complete with a comfy bed, water, and their favorite toy. (Bonus points for a treat-filled Kong while the humans handle the dishes!)
